Questions about dwarf hamsters?

Question

- I have a male Russian dwarf hamster right now, I bought him last Year in November.. I don't recall ever asking how old he was when I bought him.. So how can I tell his age?

- Sometimes when I'm cleaning his cage, I'll take him out and put him in his hammie ball, I noticed that when I pick him up, sometimes he will make this chirping sound, I'm certain I'm not hurting him when I pick him up.. But is this normal? He does this every now and then.

- I feed him a nice tropical mix feed, and he likes it a lot, but I would like to feed him fresh fruits and veggies sometimes, I've tried slicing some apple for him to snack on, but he didn't even touch it, and I tried some carrot bits, celery, lettuce too. Am I not supposed to feed him fresh fruits and veggies?

- Is it ok to take him out of his cage often and handle him? He's the cutest thing and I love to hold him and pet him with a finger, or is too much handling not good for him?

I don't have a dwarf hamster but i heard that your not supposed to give it fruit or it'll give it diabetes.  It's okay to pick up your hamster maybe it's just excited to play with you.

i have female chinese dwarf hamsters so i dont know if this will be accurate: One of my hamsters squeaks a lot and it is no problem. I pick them up a lot because i love them! My friend plays with her hamster every day.The noise might be that he's scare.d You should definitly pick him up because the longer you leave him the less tame he'll get and he might try to bite you! just don't be scared when you handle him because hamsters (i know it sounds kinda odd) can smell fear and will bite you if you are scared. This happened to me so many times until i read about it. you are supposed to feed him fresh foods, just not more than one a day or the hamster wil have too much water and get diarrhea. Are the veggies cooked, because they shouldnt be. Also, some rodents like eating raw pasta shapes, so you could try that? as for the age, the store said mine were 6 months old, but it doesn't really matter. They probably were a few months old but not anything like a year.
