Ok.

I am a single mum with 2 kids, and have been saving money for the last 18months, and have now booked a holiday for me and my kids in Majorca.

I have never been on a plane before, so i am panicking, and need to ask a few questions, please help!!

1-Where do i go once i arrive at the airport in Majorca-how do i find my rep?

2-I am really confused about what actually happens once i get off the plane and have to go through customs, and then find my baggage...do i have to find these places myself, or are they in front of me as soon as i get into the airport?

3-What happens when i get to the hotel- is there like a welcome meeting that i have to go to, and how do i find out when and where it is?

Sorry for all the questions, but i am terrified!!

  1. All of the above are correct.

However, as a former rep ( many years ago mind you) don't fall for the trip agenda.

Most of them can be done independently for half the price at the resort.

You will find them at information and money exchanges all over the place.

The reps will persuade you to book with them at the welcome meeting as they get a very good commision for each trip booked through them.

Doing it yourself will save you fortunes.  Happy hols, Ejoy xxxl

  2. ok first things first

make sure the kids have a goody bag - old and new things to

do on plane - get them a little bag on wheels for their stuff

and they can pull it along - stops them running off as well.

once you have been through passport control in the uk

buy some drinks and prepack crisps etc for the flight

you will probalby get food - but drinks are expensive.

when you get there just follow the signs and everyone else.

depending on the age of the kids i seriously suggest

only one suitcase - presume you are on a beach holiday

you won't need that much. you will find your luggage easily.

tie a bright coloured ribbon to it or stick something on both sides so you can see it easily - and get the kids to help - stops them running off too.

your rep will be waiting - make sure you have your hotel name to hand and you will directed to the correct coach.

you will check it at the hotel - either on the coach or notice

board in the hotel will be details of the welcome meeting.

go but don't be pushed into booking any trips. they are expensive. you'll prob get a free drink.

mallorca is lovely and depending on the age of the children

there is a great waterpark - keep it cheap and use the bus.

another tip inside your case put your holiday details - ie

wesr you are staying and tour operator and mobile if you have.should it get delayed they will be able to find you.

and same on way home with home details.

don't take your house keys unless necessay - you will prob lose them

please have a great time - and don't let the kids know your nervous. make it a big adventure even the boring bits.

  3. Don't panic! Everyone has to do something for the first time and when you have 2 kids in tow you want to at least be seen to be in charge (even if you're quaking in your boots) so it's good, and brave, to find out beforehand.

All passengers disembark the aircraft together so just follow the people in front of you. You'll be heading for passport control and then "baggage reclaim"; all signs will be in both english and spanish. It's not too long a walk, though it can vary depending on where in the airport the plane has "parked". There will be a tv screen in the arrival /baggage reclaim hall showing which conveyor belt has the luggage from which flight, so keep in mind your flight number as there can be more than one flight from a particular place, especially for British planes. Again, don't worry, you'll find the right one (especially if you're still following your fellow passengers).

Once you have all your bags just head for exit, passing through customs. This is just a formality for EU residents and nobody will stop you. Your rep will be holding a board to identify themselves, will take your name and direct you to the appropriate coach for your hotel. Once on board they will tell you about the welcome meeting, which you may want to attend as it gives you the chance to meet your rep and ask any questions; you certainly don't have to go on any of the trips they'll want to sell you.

Once you've done this once you'll wonder what you were so worried about. Hope you all really enjoy your holiday.

    Once you

  4. 1. the reps stand with a big sign ie THOMSONS so u can find your rep. Also the spanish people will speak english as i have been to palma airport before and they were all helpful. its not a big airport at all, so u wont get lost.

    2. all of the baggage places etc are signposted in english as well as spanish. u will be in a que with everyone who was on ur plane at customs as soon as u get off the plane. then just follow them to baggage (def signposted though)

3.when u get to the hotel there should be a rep on the coach that will talk u through everything. this is the usual way of it. if not, the people at reception will speak english at ur hotel and there is always a rep hanging about.

the welcome meetings are pointless anyway, they just try and sell u trips to go on like the waterparks. thats all

  5. i have just come back from majorca on sunday. when you get to majorca airport you get off the plane and look for a sign for baggage its down a long walkway, wait for your bag then just as you are going to the exit you just show your passport thats all it is. the reps will all be standing around down the bottom of the airport by the exit just look for the 1 wearing the tshirt of who you are going with.

when you get to the hotel there is not normally a meeting just given the room key and you unpack and do what ya want then or what the rep has planned for you. hope this helps.
