  1. India was split on 15th August, 1947 and two seperate countries named India and Pakistan were created.  The split took place because of insistance of Muslim League asthey wanted a seperate country for Muslims. There were lot of violence between Hindus and Muslims both before split and also immediately after the split.

  2. There were a couple of splits that I know of.  India originally encompassed what it is now, Pakistan and Bangladesh.  This happened after India got its independance from the British in 1947.   Bangladesh was originally part of Pakistan and it seperated again to become an independant nation.  This was not a peaceful split.  Muslims felt, upon independance of India, that they would not get fair treatment in a predominantly Hindu ruled country.  Muhammed Ali Jinnah suggested a new country to the Muslim community which became Pakistan.

To say that they "hate" each other now is maybe a bit over-stated.  There will probably always be unrest, and there sometimes still is around Jammu and Kashmir where even today, India and Pakistan feud over ownership - but for the most part, Indians are happy to be Indians, Pakistanis are happy to be Pakistanis and everyone gets on with things.

    Hope this helps.

  3. I believe it split in 1947

    The new country is Pakistan

And know it was not peaceful.

India and Pakistan hate each other today.

  4. After getting independence - India split into three - Bangladesh - Pakistan & India

  5. first split for administrative reason - Burma - 1937

    second split for political/religious reasons - India/Pakistan - 1947

    the first split was peaceful

the second split was very violent.
