  1. 1 yes and yes

    2. pairs

    4.100bucks

    5.no and no

    ty

  2. 1) yes, but it does not smell bad unless too much accumulates so stay on a routine with cage cleaning...this is important for the birds health as well

    2) pairs unless you are lucky enough to work very closely with a private breeder vs. a pet store. A good private home based breeder will hand feed a love bird and make it extremely sweet by the time it is old enough to go home

3)$75-$100 this is referring to a common love bird not a more rare one

    4) yes healthy fresh foods are fine, the bird or birds you pick should be on a quality pellet diet as the main staple as opposed to all seed!

    5) They are very playful! If they are hand fed and raised you should be able to handle them, they will get wild if ignored or if you don't have much time to socialize with them. If they are not hand fed more than likely they will not come around to being handled.

Extra credit(just kidding) pet stores will lie about a bird being hand fed so make them handle the bird for you to prove that it is tame if this is important to you.

  3. well love my lovebird his name is buddy and he is sooo sweet.

as for the questions yes the p**p A LOT it does not smell unless it is like a huge amount of it..they are better off alone because they will bond to you not to the other bird . ummm i got 4 lovebirds for around 50.but at the pet store where i buy my food from they range form 15 to 25$. And as for the cage, if you are gonna keep just one in a cage i went to walmart and got a small cage for $15. Sure they can eat strawberry's and watermelon but my lovebird only eats seed and lettuce. they can almost eat all fruits and veggies. oh and they CAN NOT EAT AVOCADO, RHUBARB LEAVES OR APPLE SEEDS. they are very very toxic. omg yes they are very playful once they open up to you.but they usually have very sharp beaks they will probably bite you once or twice untill you break them of it. each time mine bites my i bleed but i have broke mine of that.

if you have any more questions just email me..  i hope this helps and good luck with your lovebirds!

  4. I'm only going to answer # 2 and # 5 - or rather elaborate, since everyone else seems to be saying the same thing which isn't true.

If you want a PET, you need a single lovebird.

They are EXTREMELY bonded to one another if you get two, to the point which they want absolutely NOTHING to do with you and will be viciously aggressive and nasty.

If you want two friendly parrot like birds you should aim for something along the lines of a parrotlet or cockatiel.

And it doesn't matter if one is male, the other female - two males will bond just as strongle (lovebirds I mean) as a male and a female.

If you want a bonded pet - you need to just get one, that way it bonds to you instead of another lovebird.

  5. Yes, birds p**p a lot. It should never smell bad. If it does have an odor to it, it is usually an indication of illness. Granted, a cage left uncleaned for extended period of time will begin to smell as well.

If you want a companion, then you want a single lovebird. I would suggest a male as they are more docile and interactive. Females tend to be a bit more aggressive.

A common lovebird should only cost between 45 and 75 dollars depending on where you live. A common peachface variety should be able to be purchased for lower end cost, but a chain pet store will always charge more and sometimes over the range I posted above. For the best companion, choose a local breeder that handraises the babies. A good cage will cost 100.00 or more. Always remember that even though it is a small bird, a large cage is better as the bird must have room to flap, and move about.

Fruits are great for birds and should always be introduced and offered. You can find a list of safe fruits here: http://www.birdsnways.com/wisdom/ww18eii...

Lovebirds are VERY playful. My daughter had one as a companion that went everywhere with her and played peekaboo under covers or hid in her shirt to pop out and give kisses! It loved to climb in the pocket of her hoody and play with sticks. My daughter would build things and the bird would knock it all down! That little bird and my daughter were inseperable! So definitely YES, they are playful and the more you work with your bird the more social and interactive it will be!

  6. 1. They p**p about every 15-20min. No it doesn't smell.

    2. Better in pairs.

    3. About 50-70$. (Including cage)

    4. Some do.

    5. Yes.

Though it takes time. You have to train them, gain they're trust, and a lot other stuff.
