Questions about motorcycles?

I live in Cali and i want a motorcycle and i looked on the handbook, and it said i needed driver's education and driver's training. does that mean i have to study with my frends who are going for their car permits?

Also, ive been trying to decide what motorcycle to get and i recently narrowed the list down to a gsxr 600, cbr 600, or an r6, but then i realized the ninja 250 is not that bad, but i think the downside is that its a smaller engine so i dont know what the max. speed is and im not sure if it will be safe for me to go on the freeways with or without another person on it.

i am a high schooler who is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 144 pounds and i am open to any suggestions

  1. your a freshman in CA...

    get a car first.

drive for two or three years.

get used to traffic and all stupid cagers on the road.

    grow up.

    only than consider a bike.

  2. SV650 instead of the GSXR600

you won't find a new or used Kawasaki 250 Ninja, they are all sold out

the 250 Ninja is too slow in acceleration for the on ramps on a highway

  3. There is a separate driver education course for motorcycles.  Usually run by MSF - Motorcycle Safety Foundation.  Sign up soon because there is usually a waiting list.

  4. I live in Cali also.  You should spend the $250 or so on the motorcycle safety course which is two or three days.  If you do that, you will only have to take the written portion of the motorcycle driving test.  If not, you will have to take their driving test which could be tough if you either don't have a bike yet or you get anything bigger than a 250.  The dmv driving test is pretty tough plus the safety course will do you good.  I've been riding for 10+ years and I learned a lot.

email me with any questions.  millertime6@sbcglobal.net

Go with a 600 for your first bike.  It has a good weight and is easy with passengers.  250 cc will be boring.

  5. the 600cc bikes are not for learners..

    go & do a M/C safety course..
