To perform in the west end would be like a dream come true but i dont know if i can make it. I've been dancing since i was three and i really want to get onto the stage but i dont know whether im good enough. My parents arent really supportive, they say i could do better things with my life and they dont like that it doesnt pay a lot.

I dont know what to do! My family dont hav a lot of money so i cant afford to go to a good theatre school and i couldnt afford an agent.

I need help, i feel so lost and confused!

  1. If you are serious, your parents will support you. Perform in every play you can according to your age... the key point is to be an artist. Just pursue it, perform, perform, to get the "stage feeling". You also have to identify a style that you want. A person, group, or company that really make you think "I want to do that". Find a way to practice with their technique. practice is finally what will get you on stage in a solid way. Make yourself clear if you want either a JOB or an artistic activity that will make you happy. Being notorious is not necessary being talented, or, even worse, it will make you compromise many ethical things that you might not like to do or act in plays that you dont really like. The commercial circuit not always cross roads with the pure artistic lane, so you have to be focused in what you deeply wish. Best of luck

  2. You don't say how old you are now so this answer is a bit of a shot in the dark.

Try the National Youth Theatre, or National Youth Music Theatre.

Many stage schools (for under 18s) and drama schools (18+) have scholarships (free places) - if you don't apply then you will never know.

On the agent thing - you should never have to pay an agency if they haven't got you work: don't fall for 'joining fee' scams.

Wishing you the best luck in the world.
