I filled out my FAFSA and a few days later, recieved my SAR online, via email. It says on my school website that the Dept. of Education will mail me a copy of my SAR that I should bring with me to my school's financial aid office. Should I wait for something to come in the mail or should I go aheead print out the copy of the SAR that was sent to me via email?

  1. Print and take a copy of the SAR you received in your e-mail to the financial aid office.  The Dept. of Education won't send you a SAR in the regular mail because they already sent you an e-SAR (electronic version of your SAR).

  2. according to fafsa, your school should receive a copy of it too. unless your school is listed under schools that don't receive SAR electronically.

in my experience, depending on which school you go (community college or a 4-year college), they have a different system. for a community college (at least in california), i needed to complete some paper work every year and submit them to the FAO. but after i transfered to a 4-year university, i dont have to do anything. they complete everything electronically.

but if you want to be sure that they received it or not, call them or check your student account. it should say if any further action is supposed to be made.

    good luck!
