This is the HDTV i purchsed. I have a few questions to ask.

When I use the HDTV with Standard Definition, the picture quality to tell you the truth is not that good. I thought that the DVD picture would be good when I used my DVD player but its still looks the same as Standard Definition. Is it because I don't have HDTV dvd player and HDTV channels or is it my HDTV? For my HDTV, it says that I need a green, blue, and yellow cable for the video, red and and white for the left and right audio. However, when I check my DVD, I only have white, red, and yellow. Does that affect the picture quality? Thx.

  1. For a dvd player being connected to a high def tv your best connection would be the Blue, Green, Red (component) for the video, and red and white for the audio. If you dvd does not have the component video then you should look into getting a progressive scan dvd player, or up-convert dvd player. Progressive scan, which would have the component, will significantly improve picture quality and you can get this type of dvd player for very little money. Upconvert DVD players actually move beyond the multi-colored cable and use a single cable, HDMI. It looks somewhat similar to a USB cable. This cable will process video and audio while giving an improved picture above and beyond progressive scan.

A third option would be blu-ray. This will use the HDMI cable. It will give you the crispest and sharpest picture available on disc.

    Hope this helps

  2. Man, you're pumping so much LOW DEF into that TV set right now that ANYBODY would be disappointed with the TV set....

But it's an HDTV....it was designed for HD....

It gives you a picture, but it doesn't give you an HD picture....

    So....get HD.

Get an HD something.....DVD player or an HD Cable box or SOMETHING that actually provides HD.

Then you'll be impressed, because it's an HDTV set.

The low def signals are being displayed on an HDTV set and it will show ALL the flaws of the Low Def signal....it enhances the distortion and noise that is present in Low Def, because it's capable of producing Super High DETAIL......

Your old low def TV can't produce Super High DETAIL because it wasn't built to do that.....

And unfortunately, your DVD picture can't produce a GREAT picture because the technology used is still LOW DEF too....

Now, to get HD into your TV set requires you use HDMI or the COMPONENT cable inputs....that's the RED/GREEN/BLUE video with RED/WHITE audio connectors....

The Yellow/Red/White inputs are only Low Def......
