i was on all that ADHD medicine from 3rd grade til 11th grade when i took myself off cause i didnt think i needed it...and i still dont think i need it. im 21 now, going into my 4th year of college....and i focus very well and very easily on most things, especially things i enjoy or am interested in. but when it comes to most of my classes i cant pay attention sometimes, and it is very hard for me to start assignments (but usually when i do start, its ewasy for me to continue and finish)

what could i do to be able to focus and start assignemtns better WITHOUT medicine?

study plans and schedules dont work, i just dont get that burst of motivation i should be getting. i feel i am too set in my ways for schedules to successfully work.

any ideas/tips?

  1. since you say you have trouble paying attention in most of your classes and starting things , and don't get any benefit from study plans or schedules-I really think you should consider medicine for the days you have classes that you struggle with most. Vyvanse was just approved for adults and I've found that it is really effective without the usual side effects more traditional stimulants cause ie; insomnia, loss of appetite. I know you would prefer to do without but, I don't know of anything else that really works. good luck

  2. If you do not want to take medicines you could consider a herbal remedy to help you. I found Valerian worked great for me.
