I have a 4 month old quaker parrot. (i had it for a month already) it always yell at me when its hungry. i can tell it is a very energetic bird. since this is my first pet i ever have gotten in my life, there are several questions about my bird i would like to ask?

1. my quaker parrot sometimes sneezes 2 - 3 times a day, but it is eating very well. it also poops a lot. (sometimes it is just pure liquid, sometimes it is a big dropping) Is it okay?

2. my quaker parrot starts biting me sometimes and refuse to get on me unless it is hungry. (i am still using hand feeding formula on it)

3. i hardly see my bird sleep. is it b/c i am a college student and stay up too late every night? (around 3 am)

  1. 1. I think 2-3 sneezes is normal. If if gets to be 5-6 an hour, then you have a problem. They do sneeze from time to time just like we do. I read something online about them sneezing because they have stuff in their nostrils :P Healthy Quaker parrots normally poops about once every fifteen minutes and the droppings to vary.

    2. I bought my quaker when it was fully grown, so im not experienced in young ones! But I do believe within time as with everything else, it should get more used to you and trust you. Just be patient, give it a lot of attention and stuff like that.

    3. I used to see my bird sleep alot but not anymore. I think they need absolute silence and darkness in order to sleep (tucking his/her head in back), which is probably after you go to bed. I would suggest to cover your Quaker's cage when night falls and not to worry about it too much because theyll take care of emselves as long as you give em the opportunity to sleep.

you can email if you have more questions ;)

  2. allergic to something will cause sneezes/ quit hand feeding / sleeps when you do
