Ok, so my wife and I filed under MY name, the last two of my social are 98, so I figured I would be one of the last to get the check. Well, I STILL DON'T HAVE IT!!! It is June 3rd! My tax returns were directly deposited in my bank account, so I thought my stimulus check would be too. Everyone keeps asking if I had any deductions or anything taken from the return before it was deposited....I don't know, but apparently if I DID have some deductions then I get a paper in check in July or something??

  1. I bet George Bush spent it on some blow...

  2. I agree with the above answer as far as the date. Also, was your tax return deposited in your bank from the IRS or from your tax preparer? If it wasn't straight from the government, you'll be getting a papercheck. Mine was mailed out on the date that is listed according to the last two social digits.

  3. Go back to your bank records.  *WHO* deposited your refund into your bank account?  If the ACH notation is US TREASURY 220...or something very, very similar, the IRS did the direct deposit and that makes you eligible for the rebate to be direct as well.

If the ACH notation is SBBT, Rapid Refunds, whatever, then your original refund went first to the preparer and then to you.  In which case, your stimulus would be a paper check.

Lastly did you file before 4/1?  Only tax returns that were completely processed by 4/15 were likely to get the deposit based on the original schedules.

  4. Based on your SSN, your check will be mailed no later than July 11.

If you had a tax preparer file your taxes, with direct deposit, but the tax preparer took his/her fees for their work out of your refund, rather than you paying them up front, you will get a paper check. Also, if you did any kind of refund anticipation loan, those people will get a paper check as well. If you fall into either of these categories, that's why you don't have it yet.

  5. If you filed with a tax preparer and they took a fee out for their service (like HR Block) then you will get a paper check. You will get a second letter a couple of days before telling you when the check will arrive.

  6. just an fyi - checks were early, then got delayed due to regular tax return checks, but are expected to speed up again now.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- The Treasury Department said Friday it sent out 5.7 million economic stimulus payments this week, totaling more than $4 billion, as part of the government's plan to reinvigorate the nation's sluggish economy.

This week's total was the lowest since the first payments went out on April 28

In the first week, Treasury sent out $7.1 billion and last week, Treasury mailed more than 6.2 million checks totaling about $5 billion.

To date, Treasury has distributed more than 57.4 million stimulus payments, totaling more than $50 billion.

The pace of printing and mailing the stimulus checks has slowed in recent weeks as Treasury facilities have been working to get regular income tax refund checks out in a timely fashion simultaneously. But the slowdown is just temporary.

The department expects weekly volumes to increase in June when regular tax refund mailings are complete.

  7. The paper checks for digits 98 are due to be mailed in mid July.

A lot of people have thought they were getting direct deposit but for whatever reason aren't, so are assuming they'll get it earlier than they really are.  For example, if you had a tax prep place do your return and had your fees taken out of your refund, you aren’t eligible for direct deposit.

Check your bank statement from when the original refund came - if it says "US Treasury" you should be OK for direct deposit as long as that account is still open, and you didn’t split your refund into multiple accounts. Otherwise, you’ll get a paper check

Since the first round of direct deposits is done, it sounds likely that you'll be getting a paper check.

The other possibility is that you filed too late for your return to be processed by the 4/15 cutoff to make the first round of stimulus payments
