Question:

Questions about sauna's...?

I work out regularly at the gym but as of yesterday, I started using the dry sauna.

Today I did 40 minuttes on the elliptical/cross trainer and burned 400 calories and after that I did weights, then I headed on over to the sauna and stayed in for 15 minuttes. How much calories would you say I burned in the sauna?

I was reading something else about saunas and it said that you just burn the water weight but as soon as you start drinking water again, it comes right back. Is that true? Is it pointless for me to use the sauna?

  1. You are correct about the water weight coming back, but you should not be using the sauna to lose weight. That's not what it's for.  It is used for detoxification, muscle recovery, etc.  There are many practical uses that aid in your general health and wellness which may help you lose weight in the long run. If you are not interested in your health, don't use the sauna.
