i'm thinking about dying it with a semi permanent dye to dark brown.

here's some questions =)

1. how long does i take to wash out?

2. if i have (natural) blondish highlights in my hair, will they still be there when the dye washes out?

3. what are some good brands you reccomend?

any other tips would be appreciated..... thank u SOOO much!!!

  1. Jeez, people! I was having some computer issues, what's with the thumbs down?

    Pfft, anyways, haha....

    1. It depends on how often you wash your hair as semi permanent dye’s duration is measured in such.  Most commonly are the one wash, the 8-12 washes and the 28 washes. What isn’t clear, though, is the reminder that your hair will be completely back to it’s normal color [or should be] once the duration is through-meaning that if you’re, for example, using the 28 washes, your hair will be vibrant for a good week or three [I.e. 70% of the duration] until it gets to look “washed out”.

    2. Your natural highlights will be one of the things out on the line when dying your hair, along with your natural all-around color. When you go to a shade more then 2 or so shades darker, not only must you make sure that the color won’t look weird with your eyebrows but you must also realize that the closer you go to black, the more darker your shade will be when the dye is all washed out and gone.

    3. I recommend Clairol’s “Natural Instincts”. You can find the line in almost any drug store or superstore [think WalMart, Target, etc.] and it comes in a variety of colors! Be prepared to spend as much on it as a normal hair dye, though, around 7-10 dollars [American]. Plus! I suggest that you spend a lot of time researching what color you want so that it won’t turn into a spur-of-the-moment type of deal, especially with school here/right around the corner [depending on where you live, of course! :) ]

Good luck and I hope I've helped!

  2. Semi-permanent doesn't always mean it will wash out, especially if you are dying blonde hair a dark color.  I would not expect the blonde to turn back to blonde when the dark brown starts to fade.  Also, the dark brown color will fade to a lighter brown, not just wash out to your original color one day.  Just make sure the color you're going to dye your hair is a color you really want.  Good Luck!
