If i don't want to get the speakers installed in the ceiling walls, will the wires show? I want to put them on the floor but it'll just look odd if theres wires going all across the floor.

  1. you can always just run the wires through the attic and back down the wall to were your speakers are

  2. Depends on where you want to put the speakers.

One option you might want to consider is this flat wiring I saw in the store the other day:  http://www.21st-century-goods.com/page/2...

Essentially, you just stick this to your walls, and then you can plaster and or paint over it.

It is rather expensive though - about $1/ft when bought in rolls of 100'.

Another option is if you have a crawlspace under your house, then you can punch the cables down into the crawlspace, then across to where the speakers will go.

I wouldn't advise you putting the wires under the carpet - walking on them will eventually damage them.

Otherwise, there are beginning to make wireless speakers now that are intended for rear/surround speakers.  They are more expensive than the wired type, obviously, but that does solve the wire problem.
