Questions about tampons?

When my flow is really heavy at night, I always soak through my pad, underwear, pajamas and sheets! So would it be better to wear a tampon at night when its heavy? If so, what absorbancy should I use? And is it dangerous if it's in there for more than 8 hours? Like...9 or ten?

Thanks ahead of time for the answers! =]

  1. I leave tampons in over night and I have never had a problem in 13 years.

  2. I believe using a tampon at night is ok, super absorbency is the best and wear a panti-liner with it....and if u get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, then change the tampon...i have made it a habit the 1st and 2nd day of my cycle to get up overnight and change it (just to be on the safe side)

  3. just wear an overnight pad, they may feel like a diaper, but you're sleeping so no one can see it, that way you will avoid the mess in the morning

  4. Use the super absorbency tampons.  OB are good.  You should not leave them in more than 8 hours, however if you are sleeping 9 or 10 hours, it's not likely to kill you.  The tampon won't know it's in an hour longer.  However, if you have a heavy flow, longer than that and you could leak because the tampon is full

  5. This may be uncorfortable but use alot of pads not tampon but alot of pads it may be a little uncorfortable for you to sleep but atleast it wont soak through everything

  6. ya i think u should wear a tampon at night and buy the havey kind and wat ever is most comfortable for uu

  7. I'd recommend a super or super+ tampon for overnight usage...and maybe even using a pad as backup.

While it's not automatically going to place you in immediate risk if you run over by an hour or so past the magic 8-hour limit on tampons, it's probably NOT recommended.

If you sleep so soundly that you're soaking through your clothing with a pad and sleep more than 8 hours at a time, you might want to consider setting an alarm to change your tampon at about the 4 hour or 6 hour mark; not only will it avoid the 8 hour "rule" but it will also hopefully help you to avoid the over-saturation factor.

  8. You could suffer from toxic shock if you leave it in for more than 4 hours, but that's uncommon since tampons are more sanitary than they use to be.  I usually sleep with a super tampon in all night and never had problems.  You can do that AND wear a pad if necessary.

  9. wear a tampon for heavy absorbency, and a pad just in case.  But, no, you should never wear a tampon for more than 8 hours.  Plus, you should change it once it gets full anyway.

  10. super plus....no you can sleep in a tampon overnight...it's fine..

  11. Just wear a heavy overnight pad.  And if you have to, set your alarm for the middle of the night.  Whenever you fall asleep, set your alarm for like, 4 or 5 hours after that so you can get up and change your pad.  I wouldn't wear tampons over night, they shuld be changed more often than a pad and they will still allow the blood to leak through.

  12. Use a Super absorbency tampon & wear a pad... If the tampon is in for over 6 hours it can leak so that pad should catch anything. And no... it will not hurt you to have a tampon in for over 8 hours. Just don't leave it in for days and days....
