Questions about the British army?

1. do you live in barracks when you are a full time recruit of the army?

2. how do you get home? public transport.. or a military jet?

3. what happens when you are near fatally injured.. are you transported home immediately?

4. what if you have a family.. eg children? do you still live in army barracks?

5. how are you told you are being deployed to iraq? letter? call? tell in person?

6. what measures are taken if you are taken hostage and come out alive?

and if anyone has time.. can they share some personal experiences?

    2. Varies, depends upon where and why.

    3. Only when you are stable enough to travel - then airlift.

    4. Married accommodation units.

    5. CO informs the Unit / Bat. / Reg. all at once - loud.

    6. You are better off shooting yourself than being taken hostage unless you're on a UN jolly.

    Personal experiences - are just that, personal.  To be honest you wouldn't get it anyhow - no common terms of reference.

    3. If on active service you are taken to the nearest field hospital

    4. You apply for married quarters.

    5. It is posted on regimental orders and posted on the orderly room notice board

    6.You are checked out medically and physically, then given home leave so you can sell your story to the newspapers.


  3. Avoid the army, being a soldier used to be a honour, today only desperates go there, serving small groups of interest not the whole nation. Do your research and stay away.

    6) You go back to work!
