What's the easiest way for you to prepare a bottle? Do you mix it right in the bottle? Or do you mix the formula in something else and transport it to the drop ins bottle?

Also, what about making bottles on the go? Any advice?

Thanks ladies.

  1. Unless I was going out, I would mix as I needed it. I would heat the water till warm in the microwave (always checked it before mixing to make sure it was not too hot).  I had a little insulated bag big enough for 2 bottles that had a re-freezable ice pack that I would put the mixed bottles in if I needed it to go.

  2. fill bottle with water, add formula, put on top, shake and feed.  you will be amazed at how quickly your child will recognize the sound of the bottle shaking means food :-)

I found a little 3 sectioned plastic container (parents choice from walmart) that holds formula great for on the go.  I have a bottle with water in it, take off the top, open the slider top to specific top and dump, close bottle and shake.

bottles are only good for one hour after mixing so best to make when needed.  Congrats!

  3. Totally LOVE the drop ins. I actually don't use formula, but expressed breast milk, and they are fantastic. With my nieces, I found it easiest to just mix it in the bottle. The new drop-ins even expand 2 ounces (4 oz bottle will go to 6, 8 oz bottle drop-in can hold 10 oz) to make it easier to shake the bottle. Measure the water in a measuring cup, dump it in the bottle, and just take the formula with you. When baby is hungry,  dump the formula in and shake. then she is getting the freshest formula possible. Congrats and Good luck.

  4. I'm the same as Johnny's Mommy... I make 4 1/2 cups every night in a glass pitcher!  IF there is any left the next night I chuck it and make another batch!!  You obviously would only make enough for 1 day supply (based on how much your baby eats)

  5. When not at home, the best thing to do is use those dividers that you can get from the  store to help you get it ready for you, pre-measured. When the baby needs the milk, then that's the time you mix it. But I suggest for you to breastfeed. hassle free and, more healthier for you and your baby. Trust me, I'm a mother of three healthy ones. Also, I'm a certified breastfeeding counselor.Email me for more questions and answers.

  6. mix it in the bottle.

  7. When my kids used the platex bottles I would put about 6 oz of water in them and carried the formula with me. I put less water because once you add the formula it would make it 8 oz. . I would make the bottles up and put them in fridge also this way all you have to do is drop them in some hot water for a few minutes to get it to room temp.. The best thing I can tell you is to expermint with it. It is not easy being a first time mom and it is hard to learn the tricks of the things required.

  8. i used playtex drop ins and i would put the powder formula in the drop in and put the lid on the bottle... then when i needed to mix it with the water (at home or while out somewhere) id add the right amount of water (from whatever i had stored it in) and then would shake it to make it mix. it always worked well for me. just make sure u shake it enough to where the formula powder is mixed well.

its easy and you can do it anywhere pretty quickly.

  9. The thing that worked for me was having a regular bottle on hand so i can mix the formula... then transfer it into the platex bottle. One reason is because if you have a platex bottle you know how the measurments of the ounces are quite different then any other kind of bottle. I felt more satisfied thinking that i put the right amount of formula in the bottle that is not a platex.

  10. From personal experience, I believe that the easiest way to prepare a bottle is to have bottles already filled with water (if you are using things like infamil), especially if you are on the go, and just mix the formula right in the bottle just shake and you're done.

When you're on the road you dont want to have to pour the water into the bottle and then have to mix the formula, takes up too much time and when babies want to eat, they want it right away.  But taking an additional bottle water is always good to carry with you, just in case you need to rinse something.

  11. First off congratulations to you. I wish you the best.

My sister used those "drop ins" for her kids. She mixed it in a pitcher and then it was ready to pour into the bottles as needed. I would mix it and put it in the bottles and store them in the fridge if it was me. Best of luck.

  12. The easiest way for me is to prepare them in the bottle. Shake and go.

I usually pack bottled waters and my babies formula in her diaper bag on the go. I don't like making one and letting it sit.

  13. I premix everything and store it in the fridge.  Then pour into the drop-ins as I need a bottle.  It's easier for me that way and I waste alot less formula that way.

Bottles on the go, If I can't use my premixed stuff (if I don't have a cooler/fridge handy) I pour water into the bottle and keep the powder separate and don't mix it until I need to.

    Good Luck! :)

  14. When I used the drop ins I mixed it in one of those pourable tupperware containers and transfered it into a drop in when she was hungry. I think it's a little easier that way. I also made about 4 bottles worth of milk at a time so I could have some prepared for later.
