  1. Yes, it's worth the money, considering that it's ten megapixels, a starter digital single lens reflex camera, and has a new dust cleaning feature which activates whenever you turn on the camera. It has alot of features, and i would sat that it is worth the money

    1) i'll give it an   8

    2) you don't " need " anything else, since it comes with a lens. However you might " want " to get more lenses, and externally mounted flash units. you might want to consider :

    The Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens

    The Canon 70-300mm lens

those are two great starter lenses, aside from the absolute beginner 18-55mm lens.

you may also what to consider this:

    http://www.amazon.com/Canon-430EX-Speedl...

that's a canon speed light, it'll make your camera look more professional, and let you brighten scenes more effectively than with the flimsy built in flash.

All-in-all, the canon digital rebel xti is a great camera, it has ten megapixels and all. I sure wish i had one, but i don't unfortunately, but you shouldn't give up this opportunity, You're going to get some great shots from this camera.

  2. A camera bag, large enough to carry the camera and whatever else you're getting (minus the tripod).

A memory card or two. Don't get those tiny little 1 G one. They're so cheap now--get larger ones.

A clear (UV) filter to protect your lens.  People will argue about this to the end of the world--but I just don't want dust nor finger prints on the front element of my lens--so there.

A card reader. You can certainly plug the camera into the computer via USB cable. But why drain the battery while you download the photos? The battery needs to be recharged--and you know it can only be recharged for so many times until it won't hold any more power.

Perhaps an extra battery if you are out all day.

In the future, you can get more lenses (it's a joy to use a new lens--almost like having a new camera). My newest lens is Canon 135 mm f 2 and it is used here http://www.flickr.com/little_pooky

And perhaps the hand grip. You can take the vertical shots quite easily with it--and with the leather strap thingie--the whole thing won't fall out of your hand (and we won't hear, "I drop my camera!!" question on this board). :-)

  3. I own the XTi and I love it! It's a great camera. Well worth the money. I rate it a 10!
