Questions about volleyball practice and running?

yesterday was my first day of volleyball practice. my coach decided she was going to save conditioning for last so we played volleyball for the first two hours and then after that we all went outside to run on the track for twelve minutes. it was really hot and i just couldnt do it. i tried but i couldnt do it no matter how hard i tried to force myself to.

today was my second day of volleyball practice and it went pretty well. i was pretty sore from the first practice but i did good through the volleyball part of it. then we split into groups for conditioning where we did ab work outs, lifted weights, and then we went outside to run twelve minutes on the cross country trail. i thought this would be easier since it was slightly shaded but it wasnt at all. after running about two hundred yards i got a huge cramp in my stomach just below my ribs and after about walking and jogging for seven minutes i could barely breathe. i dont understand why im having troubles running when ive been runnning twenty minutes on the treadmill every day for the last twenty days without a problem.

does anyone know why im having troubles and what i could do to help get rid of them because i want to be on jv and i think i have a good chance except my running is holding me back.

  1. maybe because when you condition you are doing that after you have played.and maybe because when you run on the treadmill you are running probally inside with ac and the heat can have alot of affects with your body

  2. Although you have been running on the treadmill, your body is exhausted by the time conditioning comes around. Before VB practice there was nothing more than running on the treadmill. Your body has to build endurance. Keep it up, stick with it. You will make it. When you can't run, walk and pace yourself.

Ask the coach for some pointers to help you. It will show that you are serious about making the team and that you are not a complainer or slacker.
