Questions about work got me thinking... Have men really been "Stiffed"?

A while back I read a book by a prominent feminist.

The book is called: 'Stiffed: The Betrayal of the American Man'

Someone made a question asking if you would respect a man who didn't work and it got me thinking about this book. The book is basically about how in America, the idea of the male hard-working breadwinner is still commonplace in society while the facts no longer supports this.. Jobs that supported male type work no longer exist.

Since the traditional male model for success is no longer possible, should we as a society focus less on the "success" of men. Why hasn't society caught up with the economic facts. Men can no longer find factory or mill jobs that can support a family.

Women are increasingly educated, working, etc... Women's roles have changed. Should we (especially women) accept the changes of men's roles?

Why do women still hold men to the professional standards of the 50's?
