Proteins are important chemicals in all organsims because they are involved in almost everything cells do. Whcih of the following is not a function of proteins?

A. They form part of the structural components of all cell organelles?

B. They form the genetic code with DNA and RNA?

  1. In agreement.  Dna and Rna both have the job of Protein Synthesis through Transcription and Translation.  So really, they Make the proteins for the most part by using Mrna and Trna and Ribosomes as their little warehouse to assemble enzymes into the needed proteins for the cells.


  2. B.  In general, proteins are not considered to form the genetic code.  They are the PRODUCT of the genetic code, if you will.  Some might argue that they actually DO form a PART of the code, but this is stretching it a bit.
