Question:

Questions concerning theft by check charges......?

I recently had a background check done and found out that almost 3 years ago in Texas I had written two bad checks that I obviously did not know about. I drove from out of state to take care of it and did in one day. My question is, is that I had to call the Da's office back and they said they would let me know about the outcome of the ruling....what are the usual outcomes and how will this affect my future background checks?

  1. I am assuming that "taking care of it" meant you paid the amounts owed from the two checks?

I am also assuming that in your background check, it showed a warrent for your arrest in Texas?

Stay in touch with the DA's office.Give them about a month or so ( I know this is hard to do). The DA is getting in touch with the person who filed the original charges and is going to determine intent in this. If he feels a crime had been committed, he will file proper criminal charges and you will be notified.

If you dont hear from them, you can check back and they will tell you that it was dropped.

Best of luck and I hope this is useful to you
