Question:

Questions for Hotel HR managers only please!?

I used to work for this marriot hotel. When I applied there I was too naive, I gave them all my documents in my personnel folder. Now they are refusing to let me take it back, On top of the fact the HR manager is bent on vengence against me for some weird reason she is jealous of me. These documents are the only ones I have.

I was thinking of getting another job at another location marriot, do you think they can transfer my personnel folder to the new marriot if I get a job there? Please advice!

  1. Well I'm not a hotel HR person, but any original documents have to be returned to the employee, period.  Regardless of the industry.

  2. Do NOT listen to legal advice from HR managers. As as group, HR professionals tend to be second only to cops in the number of legal myths they believe.

If you are talking about legal documents such as your Social Security card, birth certificate, etc, then the hotel has no legal right to keep them. Ask for them back, and if the HR department says no, go to the the General Manager. If he says no, pay a lawyer a few bucks to send them a letter on his letterhead demanding them.
