Questions for a Schizophrenia?

I just dont see how The voices can be so clear....? Like giving your directions on how to kill yourself... Where did your brain come up with that information. I just do see the scientific logic in it. And how your mind comes up with people randomly. && why is the outcome only negative... if it has to do with brain chemicals couldn't the voices be doing things to better yourself? Like telling you to go out and get a job? Why are the voices only negative focused?

Also what do the halucinations look like? Like... does it look like a normal person? or deamons or what? I saw the movie the exorsism of emily rose. Is it anything like that? try and discribe them...anyone who has the desease.

Cassie T has a fairly good answer. I am schizophrenic diagnosed some 40 years ago. And although I no longer seem to hallucinate I'm still faithfully taking anti psychotic medication. Science does not know what causes "voices" or visual hallucinations. My "voices", which were in the beginning very wonderful but turned sour, began abruptly and ended abruptly So I too don't see how that could be caused by an inherited brain malfunction else why doesn't it persist if the brain chemistry is altered? I also am a biochemist and I am very skeptical about mental illness being a chemical imbalance. Science knows practically nothing about the functioning of the human brain. I suggest reading the book by John Horgan, "The Undiscovered Mind; how the human brain defies replication, medication and explanation.": The Free Press, N.Y., NY, 1999.

I'm bipolar, not schizophrenic, but I have had psychosis to a degree, and have schizophrenic friends.

Everything you sense is based upon how your brain interpretes the world around you. The way you hear sounds and see the world is not "real." It's the way that the human ears and eyes see it, based on the way our brains are wired. Other animals see and hear things differently.

So, since the way we sense things is subjective, when your brain is misfiring, you may percieve things that aren't there - hallucinations.

Everyone hears voices or hallucinates differently. Some people hear voices coming from nowhere, or from inside themselves. Some hear them attached to people, even though the person didn't say anything. Same with hallucinations. I have one friend who hallucinates cats for some reason. I tend to see bugs, or misread words as different words.

Not all voices are negative. Most are, but the reason for that is because they are affected by how you feel. Hearing voices is disturbing - so most people hear disturbing voices. But I know some people who have grown comfortable with their voices, and sometimes hear positive things.

alot of theses voices play with your mind . and yes i think it is alot of the devil to play with your mind . but u can try some medation.
