so when you say the big bang and stuff like that its all theories?

so the whole atheist thing is just about theories and not believing in God?

Even believing in those scientist who created the theories that still takes faith in a way.

Have you actually tried christianity before saying that its stupid and a complete fake? Before saying God doesn't exist i would at least try it out. Since you have nothing to loose.

this isn't an argument atheist around yahoo

  1. OK look here learn something Christianity or Religion is not a ******* theory its ******* magic OK its magic man look at it some invisible tyrant that came out of no where created everything in 6 days that's not a ******* theory its Magic.

One small reason i do not follow Christianity is this its just one word dinosaurs.

  2. I studied Christianity in a Lutheran parochial school for 9 years. After that, I studied scientific theory for 8. How 'bout you?

  3. There is a fundamental problem in your query.

Logic dictates that whenever an assumption involved in a logical argument is the same as the conclusion then the argument is circular and therefore not valid.

Faith in god is an assumption. Therefore any person with that assumption cannot validly conclude that God exists.

Since I consider logic is a useful tool to determine the universe around me, I cannot use the assumption that God exists without first acknowledging that by doing so I am being irrational.

Nonetheless, if God exists then I should be able to conclude same without the assumption of his existence - BUT THERE IS NO ARGUMENT THAT CONCLUDES THE EXISTENCE OF GOD WITHOUT THE ASSUMPTION THAT HE EXISTS.

Thus, to "try christianity" or any other form of theism would be irrational and I choose not to act in that way.

  4. The Big Bang Theory is a theory, but it's a h**l of a good theory...complete with evidence.

Don't you use Pascal's Wager on me!

  5. I'm not atheist, was just reading some of the answers. I really got a laugh with the one about dinosaur's. The Bible says, Gen.1:2 And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. then Vs. 3 And God said,"Let there be light & there was light."

Now who is to say that at this point the "dinosaur's" had not already came and one of these catastrophes scientist are always talking about

had taken them out? Christianity is based on "Faith" and "faith-alone"

Our "gift of Salvation" is freely given, not earned. Which means NOT by our Deeds........"lest any man should boast"

"The Big-Bang Theory" ~ Hmmm, God is the Big-Bang!!

  6. I'm a former Christian.

Atheism is much, much older than the Big Bang Theory.

Scientific theories are not the same as conjectural theories, and are backed up by evidence.  The BBT is no exception.

  7. The "whole atheist thing" is believing what makes sense based on empirical evidence, not on superstition, fear, anecdotal evidence, and indoctrination.

  8. I have never accepted the theory of religion, but the scientific laws of the universe and biological evolution are my beliefs and are fact.

  9. I've tried Christianity.

    Have you tried Buddhism?

(Scientific hypotheses have to have rigorous evidentiary support before they can become theories.  I accept things that have overwhelming evidence.  It would be silly not to.)

  10. Many of my friends are hardcore christians. Personally, I don't believe in God. I think that if God is so amazing than why are there wars, murders rapes etc.?

Also church just brainwashes people. My friends don't really have an opinion of their own, they were raised to believe that god is real and everyone who doesn't believe that is wrong and a sinner. Church makes people believe what they're telling them regardless of what the truth is. It's similar to the book 1984 in some senses.

I was raised to have my own opinions and based on what I know about the world and my experiences with churches (I have gone to church, and by the way my dad is baptized and practiced as a christian growing up) I just don't find God logical. Period. Oh and some churches and religions are big on discrimination. Not only do they force people to have opinions about God, but they force people to have opinions about abortion and g*y and L*****n people.

    Okay, my rant is over.

  11. Atheism is the absence of belief in gods.  It carries no requirement to believe in any particular scientific theories.

No, I haven't 'tried Christianity'.  What exactly are you suggesting, that you have to believe something is true before you can decide that it isn't?  Seriously, listen to yourself.  That's just insane.

"Before saying God doesn't exist i would at least try it out."

Okay, so precisely how many gods have you tried out?  There are thousands of them out there.  I'm pretty sure you couldn't even name most of them, and I'm certain you haven't read all their books.

  12. Scientific theories take no faith, only understanding and an open mind. I used to believe in God and Jesus.

Why don't you accept Odin or Zeus?

  13. I'm a deprogrammed christian.  The bible is why I am atheist.

  14. I started with Christianity. And you know what? When I reached college, I found out they'd been teaching me bad science so I'd believe creationism. The facts were actually all for evolution, and I had to relearn the basics AND the advanced stuff. I was behind. Badly.

Gravity is a theory. You do not have to believe it to stop floating. Evolution's a theory the same way. Go ahead and disbelieve; nothing's going to stop evolving.

  15. You know something, Sport?  I've had the bushes in front of my house set on fire, bricks thrown through my windows where my children play, and been knifed and left for dead all in the name of Christ.  If that is the way Christians treat others then I wouldn't EVER consider even trying Christianity.

  16. Yes, I tried Christianity but it did not work. God didn't talk to me or let me know he existed. Science is much more reliable and tells me a lot more about my world.

  17. You're using the colloquial definition of theory instead of the scientific definition of theory.  Scientific theories don't take faith to believe, they take evidence to believe.
