Questions for doctor...Is my salary as a doctor who just finished residency low?

I earn 5,000$ a month is it ok ?

And I work 9 hours a day

Was it the same when you just started practsing?

  1. No matter the specialty, if you're in the US, that isn't much more than you made as a resident. You should have held out for at least twice that in a primary care specialty, and more in others.


  2. How many hours a week do you work?  How much vacation time do you get? Does your employer pay your malpractice insurance? Do you have a car allowance? Cellular phone allowance? Dues paid to professional associations? Health insurance? How long is it to full partnership?

    All these things go into the package.

    We had one doctor in our group who was excellent, but who saw relatively few patients. We simply couldn't pay him the same as the others.

    I left my first associate because I thought I was underpaid after seven years. On my own, I made even less the next three years. But things eventually turned around.

  3. Starting salary is $60,000, so you're not being ripped off.

    You also work 8 hours a day, your lunch hour doesn't count.
