I'm planning on getting a guinea pig because we found a stray dog and can't keep her because we don't have the faculites so we're giving her to a rescue and I reallly got attached to her so I need something to distract myself :)

Anyways I need some advice about caring for guinea pig.

1.What kind of cage should I get? I was thinking something like this; http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3076906

2. And what do you feed them besides pellets?

3.And I heard they need a lot of extra vitamins-do you give it to them by they the food they eat or in some kind of suppliments

4.What kind of bedding is best for guinea pigs?

Thanks!

  1. okay i am a owner of 2 guinea pigs. Well yea dats a perfect home for a guinea pig. Make sure you put lots of toys and a hut for it cus they become very frightened the first days home.Make sure u give me timothy hay it has a good source of vitimin c which they NEED! Also get some vitiman c droplets that you pour in there water bottle maybe even some snacks. I have carefree bedding its really good also try gettin nutriphase for food its awesome. Hope this helps

  2. Guinea pigs are great, low-key pets, but they do require a degree of daily care. See these links for very important information. They will tell you everything you need to know.

  3. ok so before you get a guinea pig make sure your ready to clean out there cage every other day. and thats a nice cage for one guinea pig but not for 2 they grow fast and they get pretty big. mine love the honey treat sticks and yogort bites. yes they do need ALOT of vitamin C because like humans they cant produce there own vitamin C so oranges, dandilion greens, and red and green bell peppers are great because they have vitamin C.Every type of bedding EXCEPT PINE BEDDING IT CAN REALY HURT YOUR GUINEA PIGS EYES WHEN THEY ITCH THERE FACE THE PINE GETS STUCK IN THERE EYES.  Play with your guinea pig(s) for at least one hour every day

i hope this answered your question
