Why is it we are looked down upon compared to most Hispanic races, like Puerto Ricans and Colombians ? I mean, what is up with that ? The way we are treated reminds me of the way most racists discriminate against black people.

  1. u serious?

    no way.

  2. because of the high percentage of african blood. 90% of dominicans have african blood. the spainards had a caste system in which the blacks were at the bottom of the barrel. it went something like pure blood spanairds got treated like royalty then the mixed then the natives then the blacks werent even considered. in fact most dominicans dont like to say that they have african ancestors they will say they have a hatain ancestor before they say african it was such a bad thing to be black. that is why latinos tend to be racist against morenos or morenas.

  3. Newsflash

    YOU ARE BLACK..

  4. sarahisfocused is absolutely correct.  Most Americans are not familiar with the Spanish and/or Latin American Caste system.  It's unfair and extremely racist but it has existed for centuries.  And it's not just Dominicans...Black Puerto Ricans, Cubans etc are treated pretty much the same way.  Mestizo's and Native Americans don't have it much better. In Latin America, the darker you are, the more you are discriminated against.  That's why so many people immigrate from there in hopes of finding a better way of life.

  5. I hope you know that as a Dominican you have black in you. Secondly you are a very very shallow person. You actually sound as if you don't mind black people getting treated badly. Heavens forbid that people should treat you like a black person.

  6. Really? I didn't know some dominicans felt that way. I'm not dominican I'm Haitian (hi neighbor lol) and I think that some dominicans look down on haitians I'm not saying you do but that is based on my experience. I know that didn't answer your question but it was a side comment that kind of relates to your consern. I think it is time we start treating each other better no matter our race or ethnicity.
