ok so i HATE eating meat and i really want to stop eating meat!

what do you guys eat?

was it hard to stop eating it?

I thought that it was going to be hard to stop eating meat because i LOVED meat but it actually was really easy.  There are many substitutes for meat like soy burgers and tofu.  I no they sound nasty but they are actually really good. i thought that i would never try these things but when i did i fell in love with them. the best vegetarian burgers to buy at the grocery store is the Brand Boca. Boca burgers are the best vegetarian burgers to make at home. The flame grilled ones are the best. The best veg burger at restaurants is at ruby Tuesdays. They do not only have the best regular burgers but the best vegetarian burgers also. Since vegetarians only eat turkey, fish, and chicken turkey bacon can be substitute for bacon and ground turkey instead of ground beef can be used in spaghetti. and ground chicken is delicious in tacos.i wish you the best of luck but with these suggestions you will be eating well. Oh and what ever you do do not eat morning star it is not good at all they have the worst vegetarian meals ever.


  2. its not that hard. whenever i got tempted to eat meat, i would think of the millions of poor helpless animals being selfishly slaughtered in cruel ways and that always helped me get my mind off eating meat.

  3. It wasn't hard for me because I've always hated meat. I hate the way it looks, smells and tastes!!! When I was a kid I ate everything off my plate except for the meat! If you hate eating meat then by all means stop eating it!

    I like to eat products from Morningstar Farms and Boca.

After finding out that meat (as well as dairy products and eggs) are unnecessary for a healthy, balanced diet, the effects of the livestock industry on the environment, and the way animals are treated I couldn't imagine ever eating meat (or dairy & eggs) ever again.  If you do find it hard to stop eating meat, I advise watching a video of the way animals are treated or reading Peter Singer's "Animal Liberation" before making the decision to eat meat.

    Breakfast:  Cereal with soy milk, pancakes, French toast, bagels with vegan cream cheese or margarine, Van's frozen vegan waffles, oatmeal, Gimme Lean! "sausage", tempeh bacon strips, scrambled tofu.

    Lunch/Dinner:  Vegetable lasagna, pasta, rice & bean dishes, salads, sandwiches, veggie burgers, tofu dogs, soups, vegetable "meat" loaf, potato dishes, tacos, burritos, enchiladas, stir fry, pita with hummus.

    Dessert:  Soy ice cream, cake, cookies, pie, brownies.

    Snacks:  Hummus, chips, popcorn, pretzels, potato wedges, granola.

    I also eat fresh fruits and vegetables with every meal.

  5. No, it is not hard for me because I was born and raised vegetarian. I eat vegetarian barbecue ribs, steak, chicken, strips, patties, morning star foods, vegetarian canned foods,

    vegetarian roast and a lot more. I also eat bread, drink soy milk, eat whole wheat bread, buns, potatoes, cereal, and etc.

    soya food and linda mcartney is soya stuff made as a replacement to meat/alternative i eat this.

    it wasnt hard for me but you need determination and to know why you want to do it because people will ask you and try to persuade you otherwise.

    write to the vegetarian soicety they have leaflets and information on loads of stuff!

  8. Hard to stop eating meat:

    For me it was cause i used to feel very much pleasure eating any kind of meat i did like very much its flavors.

    For you it will be ease, cause you dont like the flavor, and if you are older than 18 no one have the right to obligate you to eat meat.

    What i eat?

    To replace the flavor of the meat i eat :

    SOYA meat who i like very much if it  is marinated with cumin and chilis, mmm, delicious

    GLUTEN is the other one that you will find , really it is not so nice but some people  do marinate it so it can be ok.

    FALAFEL it is made of chickpeas cream and fried, it is delicious and is a arabic food.

    The other things are  vegetables in all the colors, dry fruits, breads, potatoes, and so on. aand.... Don't forget the vitamin b 12, it is a vitamin that is not in vegetables and we need to keep propperly our nervous system.

    But don't worry it is taken from bacterias , and bacterias have not nervous so they don't feel pain. So taking that tablets you won't contribute with the suffering.

    Who feel pain are the chikens, the oxes, the dogs, cats, fishes and other animals that around the world people use to eat, keeping  totally blind to that suffering. It is the best reason to stop eating animals:"Respecting their lives".

  9. That's great you want to go veg! I eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, and grains. I also eat a lot of fake meats like veggie bacon, veggie chicken strips, veggie burgers, etc. They taste pretty good... some brands are better than others. Here are some meals I enjoy:

    -Pasta with Nate's Meatless Meatballs

    -Sub with Tofurkey Deli Slices

    -Bean or vegetable burritos

    -Quesadillas with veggies

    -BLT with Smart Bacon

    -Stir fry, vegetables with Morningstar Farms Meal Starters Chik'n Strips

    It really wasn't that hard for me to stop eating meat. There are so many delicious meat alternatives available these days, and you can even find them in most large grocery stores. Most restaurants have some veg options -- even Johnny Rockets and Burger King sell veggie burgers!

  10. So going vegetarian... have you considered the amount of pesticides you would be exposed to? There are hormones on vegetables as they are on beef or pork...

    There can't be that much wrong with having a serving of meat, after all, God told Adam to kill and eat...

    Just my two cents worth. If you have health problems like allergies to meat products then I see a reason to change, otherwise it makes no sense.

  11. It wasn't hard for me, but then again I never had a real craving for beef of any kind after seeing how beautiful cows are...look at all the animals that are tortured just to please the palate - Good luck!!!!

    tofu

    salad

    nuts(be mature)

    kidney and chickpeas

    spinach,

    broccoli,

    soymilk,

    instant oatmeal,

    peanut butter,

    whole wheat bread .

    rice,

    oranges,

    apples\\

    and a lot more!

  14. You can find many recipes online.

    The fake chicken patties that Morningstar Farms and Bocca makes are excellent also, I eat them once or twice a week.

    I eat everything I used to eat, just minus the meat.  You can take just about any recipe and make it vegetarian.  It may seem hard, but it really isn't at all.  Good luck:)

  15. nahhhh.. it was quite easy... I was a "vegetarian" for a month on a bet and it wasn't really all that hard.. .. Ok so I don't really eat meat that much to begin with but if you know what your body really needs in terms of nutrition, it's quite easy to replace meat sourced foods with plant based foods...

    Pasta dishes were easiest because of the variety of pasta and sauces that you can make.. Salads are another possibility.. You can vary the mix of the greens (try using/adding fruits and nuts too) and dressings to avoid the monotony..

    Vegetable curries and stir fries are really filling especially with brown rice.. They usually have lots of flavor, varying textures and can be "mixed and matched" for variety..

    A tip: don't be too adventurous at first.. Try familiar ingredients so the initial "experimenting" won't be too daunting and therefore discouraging..
