Question:

Questions of my rights/privacy/criminal harassment?

Last year I was criminally harassed by someone who was charged and convicted. After the first conviction, this person breached the parole conditions and was charged and convicted for the breach of those conditions. After that the person was charged with 2 more counts of criminal harassment and convicted.

The person has now been released from prison and is constructing a website outlining 'their story'.

I understand that this person has the right to publish a website, but I want to know if they are allowed to publish my name in these stories. Is my privacy protected? If not is there anything I can do to protect it? If my name is published what can I do about it?

I live in Ontario Canada.

Any help is highly appreciated.

thank you

  1. it could prove to be difficult as he can say it's another person by the same name, make sure there are indicators which identify you personally to be able to counter...good luck

  2. Your name is not private, it is considered public information.  Therefore, there is nothing that you can do.
