  1. 1. I know people who have gotten away with not being caught smuggling small things like cigarettes or having small things, like M&Ms mailed to them.  Not digital cameras.  And this may keep me from getting best answer, but if this is yourself you're talking about just leave it at home.  And don't try to get it shipped.  There will be more important things to worry about.  Trust.

    2. Free days are reserved until the end of boot camp.  Though Sundays have a bit more free time worked into them.

    3. I know of no ships with wi-fi, but I'd expect in the next few years for that to become a reality.  The issue is bandwidth.  Ships must dedicate the bulk of their communications network to accomplishing the mission.  Laptops however are certainly allowed.

    4. Most of the time there is a weekend (sometimes a shortened  weekend) before students ship to A school.

    b. Most A schools, especially longer ones have Phases where they will hold your personal items until you are authorized to receive them.  You can usually have them shipped to you anyway, so they will be waiting for you when you "phase up"

  2. No you cannot have a camera during Boot camp

You will get some time off on Sundays while in Boot Camp

You can have personal laptops on the ship but you should be careful because they can get stolen.

Internet on ship varies from ship to ship.  WiFi isn't something that is available

It can depend on what A school you are going to, some do get time off but others do not and have to report right away.

  3. No camera.  There will be a year book type book available for you to purchase.  It will have official pictures taken of you and your shipmates as well as pictures of you in training.

Very late in training you might get a Sunday off.

You can have a laptop on a ship.  No Internet connection.  It must be safety checked by the electrical shop.

You go right from boot camp to school.  After school you'll have a chance for leave before going to your first command.

At school your privileges will be phased in.  At first it will be almost like boot camp, toward the end you'll be able to have your electronic toys and civilian clothing.

  4. no   -------    expect to pose for this camera

Yes. Once you are out of boot camp, anything goes.

Hope this helps. Good luck, and thank you for your service.
