Question:

Questions on bikini/brazillian wax?

I've finally picked up the balls to make myself an appointment but I've started talking myself out of it. So I just have a couple...or more than a couple of questions.

I've had 1/2 legs and underarms done before and the most painful bit was the last 5 minutes for the back of my legs. I've heard underarm is meant to be extremely painful but I wasn't bothered at all by it? How would you compare the pain between bikini and those 2? I've heard the closer in you get the more painful.

Also I keep reading that you should take painkillers to lessen the pain, has anybody tried this? Advil is one of the recommendations but I've never heard of it so I assume it's from the US. Does anybody know the uk equivalent?

Also, if to say by pure bad luck I did bruise from it (I've heard your first time can leave you swollen and bruised) how long would it take to sort itself out? I've booked it for 2 days before my holiday.

Thanks in advance :-)

  1. Hey, i got one done before going on holiday and was very sore!! The wax was far too hot and burned my skin so you can imagine how sore it is now. I didnt take any painkillers but wish i had now!! I didnt bruise but got a bit of a red rash because it took some skin off :( So i wouldnt recommend it! Hope this helps xx

  2. BAD IDEA!!!

Its never a good idea to book a bikini wax so close to your holiday, especially if its your first time. It takes about four days for the swelling to go down completely, if left unirritated. I'd say bikini is the most painful part of your body to have waxed, but don't take painkillers before hand. Taking them, when you're not in pain, can cause liver and kidney damage. Take them afterwards.

  3. Don't worry about it :) I've done it twice before, and I did it myself with Veet wax. If you've had your armpits done, you'll be fine although you might be a bit sore for a while so I'd reccommend either french knickers [hypoallergenic] or a thong. Don't go commando, you'll catch something.

  4. Dont worry at all about it, sometimes I usually take 2 paracetamol  before having it done, this is pretty similar to Advil, just take any sort of pain killer. To be honest, its not that bad at all, just a bit uncomfortable, when I got mine done she waxed most of it off then plucked the last tiny bits that were left, that was the worst bit, but she did a very good job. Its really worth getting waxed, its so much better than shaving and lasts much longer. It'll be a little bit red and bumpy for a couple of hours after but it will soon settle, put a bit of aloe vera cream on it after you've had it dont just to cool the area.

Dont worry at all, you'll be totally fine!
