Question:

Questions on ovulation and when to get fertility test

My husband and I have been trying to conceive since February. I am completely regular in terms of my period and have been using the ovulation predictor stick (Clearblue) each month. I hear from so many people that once you use that stick, it can happen so quickly. I am 34 and in good shape but am worried.

Should I be getting a fertility test soon?

If I show positive ovulation on the stick, does that mean I am in fact, releasing an egg?

  1. My story is almost identical to yours.  I am 33 and have been trying for a year.  I am regular with my periods and get positives with my ovulations strips.  I do think we are ovulating or the strips would not register.  I have my doctors appointment with my OBGYN this Wednesday late afternoon.  I will be more helpful then and let you know what my doctors says is our (husband and me) next step.  My OBGYN told me prior to our year that my husband and I should try for a year and if we did not succeed to schedule an appointment.  You may have read that it takes a healthy couple an average of 8 months to conceive.  I know how frustrating that sounds but it made me feel a little better.  I'll give you an update Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

  2. If you are regular and get the positive reading on the stick you probably ovulate regularly. But given that you are 34 and have been trying for over 6 months I would go see a doctor for basic testing. Your husband should have his s***n checked as well.
