There are things on my Add/Remove list that I don't recognize, and that say I use them rarely. I was just wondering if anyone knows if they are important to a computer.

Banctec Service Agreement

Creative Audio Pack

Conexant HDA

Creative MediaSource 5

Dell Photo AIO Printer 924

Digital Line Detect

EarthLink Setup Files

SearchAssistant

Sonic Encoder

Thanks in advance!

  1. A web search is your friend.

Unless you have or intend to subscribe to Earthlink you certainly do not need Earthlink setup files.

I suspect Search Assistant is malware or a useless browser plug in.

Sonic makes media software, CD and DVD burning and creation. If you have other tools for that and don't use or dislike Sonic you can delete it. You may have an application that uses this Sonic encoder externally. Check your media applications.

Service agreement... do you have a service agreement? is it still valid? if not this can go.

  2. You will probably want to get rid of SearchAssistant - typically associated with Spyware.

Banctec is likely a software key

    Creative is your audio driver

    Conexant is your modem driver

Creative - sound or video driver/software

    Printer driver and software

Digital Line Detect - internal/external modem driver

EarthLink Setup - ISP Setup files (if you use earthlink) otherwise you can remove

    Sonic Encoder - CD/DVD Burning Driver/software

  3. Banctec Service Agreement=digital copy of your service agreement

Creative Audio Pack=related to your sound card and its settings

    Conexant HDA=Modem drivers/software

Creative MediaSource 5=audio software specific to your sound card

Dell Photo AIO Printer 924=your printer or at least one that is hooked up to the computer (or was)

    Digital Line Detect=Basically useless

EarthLink Setup Files=Setup files for earthlink, if you aren't using them, you don't need this

SearchAssistant=if its listed in the add/remove programs....it's a 3rd party search assistant and probably from the manufacture of your pc.....useless

Sonic Encoder=for specific file types to work with your media player.

There's the info for the list you gave us...decide for yourself if you want to keep them or not.  I would uninstall all but the printer and modem files......but thats because I don't need nor use the modem for anything and I have Nero for my media stuff

  4. Hi RedKitty

    Banctec Service Agreement

    EarthLink Setup Files

These are useless. The rest you need for your sound and modem.
