Since Detroit signed Kwame Brown, many fans have mentioned about Pistons did the right thing because they are lacking size. Isn't it generally true for today's NBA?

In the 90s, you have

Dominant Centers like Hakeem, Ewing, The Admiral, Shaq (who carried it through early 2000s). Or great but not dominant centers in Zo, Sabonis, Vlade (along with Sabonis are the best passing center and smart defender), Mutombo, and Rik Smits (no D, but great offensive player).

Now day you can find Yao, Superman, and Caman...

Has Dominant Centers' age past?

  2. i think so

  3. Agreed.  That era has past with only a few exceptions.  The perimeter game is the focus of everyone's attention.

  4. No, not necessarily, but it's hard to find big guys who are not just big and strong, but also guys that can score points and fight for rebounds.

  5. your forgetting Bynum

  6. Are you asking if the era of dominant centers is past?

Yeah, I think so. The 90's was the era when there were many great dominant centers all playing at once. I don't think you'll see that again for a while if at all. Even in the 60's when Russel and Chamberlain were playing you didn't have the number of great centers you did in the 90's. Chris Bosh is not a center so count him out. You have Dwight Howard, Tim Duncan, Alonzo Mourning, Rasheed Wallace, Jermaine O'neal and Ilgauskas now. They are good players, but not remotely the same caliber as those 90's centers.

  7. Chrish Bosh too.

    But I guess it has.
