Questions regarding Philippine cinema

1. When will the movie industry lift the ban against using film that was manufatured after 1970? Every single Filipino movie still seems to use 1960's surplus film media left over from the sixties. I do understand the artistic merits of continuing to use technicolor technology so much they insist on using it 50 years later, and I agree that the orange hue effect does increase my appetite, but let's move on a bit. Maybe we should upgrade to 8MM film?

2. Do Filipino actors get paid on a scale according to the number of times they:

- Utter the word 'Karapatan'

- Cry like banshees

- Do a sing and dance number for no plot-related reason at all?

3. Also, do they get paid more when they keep their voices above 200 decibels during a verbal argument scene?

4. How come all Filipino movies are comedies? Every single one I've seen always seems to crack me up, albeit unintentionally, for the reasons stated in question 1, 2 and 3.

  1. i agree that most of our actors are over-acting. stunts and effects are unrealistic.

i've noticed that our cinematography is poor.

i never liked watching filipino movies- it's either there are too many jokes- (slaps, misses and falls), too much crying, too many explosions and unrealistic projectiles.

i do wish that theres more quality in our output. i just don't know if the equipment is something our industry can afford...

  2. 8MM's are pretty expensive & Pinoy movie makers won't cash out such money.

    2. I ask this myself all the time. But sing & dance numbers are not used as much right now. They're(movie makers) are going for romantic comedies.

They spend too much money in casting too many actors & actresses who can't act. And they use movies as advertisements to products the actors endorse. That ruins the movie.

    3. No. By the number of tears actually.

    4. Because of 2 & 3 yes, they become comedic.

I've only watched a Pinoy movie twice in cinema's. The other being Rizal sa Dapitan for academic reasons & the other was free.

I believe Pinoy movies are "Rentals". Although I appreciate much of them, I wouldn't really bother going to the theater & spend Php150+ to see them.
