Questions regarding contact eye exams at walmart?

i am going to one tomorrow. i would like to know how long it takes to get the contact lenses. can you directly purchase it there? i need to have contacts in 12 days. will the contacts come in time if i go for an eye exam tmr?

also, what is the difference between an eye exam and a contact fitting exam. i recently had an eye exam from my optometrist so i know my prescription. does this mean i have to get an exam as well?

I reccomend going back to the doctor who perscribed your glasses.  If it has been recently, they will probably do the contact fitting there.  If Walmart has never seen you before, they might insist on another exam--liability reasons.

Depending on the type of contacts you get, you can potentially walk out of there that day.  If you are looking at disposables, they should have them available then.  They will teach you how to put them in and take them out.  That's part of the fitting, the other is the doc making sure you can see with them.  Mine had me come back a week later for a further check-up to see how my eyes were doing and it was then I bought my contacts.

If I were you, I'd call Wallmart and ask about their policy on perscriptions given by other dr's, before you decided to walk in.  Either that, or plan on paying for another eye exam.
