Questions regarding first time flight to Narita International Airport & meeting friends on another flight?

Sorry if these questions seem a little dumb, it's my first time to NRT!

It's me and my friends' first time coming to Japan, so we want to make sure we find each other!

my questions are:

1.) I'll be flying to Narita Airport(delta) and i have friends coming on another flight 40 minutes later (Air Canada). Can i wait for my friends? Is it ok/safe to not pick up my luggage for 40 minutes?

2.) If i have to get my luggage first then where can i tell my friends to meet me? after luggage pick up? customs?

3.) As far as i know, there are two terminals at Narita airport. When is the earliest can i find out what terminal my flight is arriving at to tell my friends?

Your flights will both be arriving at terminal 1.

What you should do is to clear immigration, pick up your luggage and clear customs, and wait for them in the terminal 1 arrivals area.

3) Both Delta and Air Canada are arrived at terminal 1 of Narita airport.

However Delta uses North wing and Air Canada uses South wing and there two exits.

2)After clear Customs, go Meeting point on same 1F at South wing.

1)The two baggage claim counters are apart each other very far so that you'd definitely better to pick up your luggage first and clear Customs North wing and go out to the Meeting point at South wing.
