This is probably a touchy subject since it's never really brought up, but I was just wondering if sperm with damaged dna strands effects the end point offspring when it is successfully conceived?

Also, is sperm quantity on a rule related to the physical dose of s***n ejaculated? Or can it be a matter of different concentrations of s***n to the "environment" or body of the s***n fluid (I dont really know what it's made up of but just guessing it must be more than simply sperm)?

  1. Sperm with damaged DNA will usually not fertilise the egg as the ones that aren't damaged will get there first and if they do most of the pregnancies will spontaneously abort before the woman even knows that she is pregnant. It depends on what you mean when you say damaged DNA too, of course there are genetically inherited disorders, e.g. CF, Huntingtons, and the sperm carry certain mutations that cause them to be passed on to future offspring.

WHO analysis guidelines for normal s***n:

    Volume >2ml

    Concentration of sperm >20x10^6/ml

    White cells <1x10^6/ml

Motility >50% forward >25% rapidly moving forward

    Morphology >15% normal
