Quevega favourite to win World Series Hurdle
Quevega is going to add 6th straight victory to her career chart by winning Ladbrokes.Com World Series Hurdle (Grade 1) at Punchestown racecourse on Thursday, April 26.
The high-stakes Irish event over a distance of 3 miles is scheduled to start at 5:30 (GMT). For the prize cheque of €99,200, the legendary trainer W. P. Mullins’ bay mare will compete against Berties Dream, Get Me Out Of Here, Mikael D’Haguenet, Mourad,
Whatuthink, Won In The Dark, Voler La Vedette and What A Charm.
Quevega’s portfolio is adorned with excellent success streaks and outstanding feats. Since making her debut in May 2007, the maverick mare has won a dozen of races to date, earning £453,597.Overall, she has run for 19 times.
The eight-year-old brilliant sprinter marvellously finished first in each of her last five outings starting from March 2010. In four out of the five races, she was driven by R. Walsh. Interestingly, she got a favourite tag for each of these starts.
At the moment, the talented mare is carrying a lot of confidence, fighting spirit and winning momentum which suggests that she will seal a sterling success today convincingly.
However, Voler La Vedette and Berties Dream can trigger upsets in the race as each of this duo is strong enough on the paper.
Voler La Vedette accomplished a fabulous hat-trick during November-December 2011. The C. A. Murphy-trained bay mare moved ahead to get a runner-up rank each in two subsequent races on January 26 and March 15, 2012.
As a whole, the 23-race veteran runner has 13 triumphs to her name along with £385,765 of prize money.
On the other hand, Berties Dream excellently attained a runner-up position on December 10, 2011. Henry De Bromhead’s bay gelding proceeded to finish first in a big contest on January 7, 2012. He again achieved a triumph in his last outing on April 3, hiking
the total number of wins to 6.
Though the competition for the Hurdle title will be fairly tough but Quevega is likely to make her way towards victory by beating all of her rivals. Let us enjoy the superb action. Good luck to all the runners.
