Quevega prevails in the Grade 1 Ladbrokes.com World Series Hurdle at Punchestown
With a victory in the Grade 2 OLBG Mares' Hurdle, which was registered as the David Nicholson Mares' Hurdle in the Cheltenham Festival, Quevega was expected to excel in the Grade 1 Ladbrokes.com World Series Hurdle at Punchestown on 26th April,
2012.
Much to the satisfaction of her connections, she lived up to all expectations, and bagged a magnificent victory.
Teamed with jockey, Ruby Walsh, the duo set the track ablaze with her pace and finished 5 ½ lengths ahead of the C.A Murphy trained, Voler La Vedette.

The runner-up ran well, and her performance was appreciated by the winner’s trainer.
The eight-year-old mare, who is trained by W.P. Mullins made her connections proud as Mullins stated to the press that:
"She's a real good mare and she's showed it today," he further elaborated and stated that "I suppose some people thought she probably hadn't met much before, but Voler La Vedette had the credentials today after her good run at Cheltenham.”
Mullins stated the Hammer and Trowel Syndicate owned runner has performed to the best of her ability this year, and he is not sure if he will take her to France to compete at Auteuil.
The third place was secured by Mourad, who missed the victory by a wide margin of 10 lengths to winner, Quevega, as he fell  4 ½ lengths behind the runner-up.
Due to the fact that the mare that was whelped on 11th April, 2004, is performing so well, she is collecting significant amount of attention from the market.

As a result of this victory, Paddy Power is giving her a chance to claim the David Nicholson title for the fifth time in a row.
The punters have more confidence in the mare’s ability as it is speculated that she might compete with Big Buck’s, who is the winner of the World Hurdle champion.
However, Mullins is not pleased with this prospect as he stated that :

"I've no problem tackling Big Buck's and if he gets into the mares' hurdle next year we'll take him on," he further added that "Why change what's not broken?"
