http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127’s woeful run of results continued as they took on third-tier side US Quevilly in the quarterfinal of the Coupe de France.
Stade http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-c25453 d’Ornano, home of Stade Caen Malherbe was the venue for a quarterfinal that would surely be remembered by Quevilly fans for years. ahead of the game, Quevilly were looking to repeat the feats of 2010 when they saw off the likes of Stade Rennais
and Boulogne to reach the semifinals of Coupe de France.
This time, the minnows were handed a tough task to beat an Olympique de Marseille side that had lost five consecutive games in Ligue 1.
Marseille coach, Didier Deschamps made seven changes to the side that lost to Dijon at the weekend. Andre-Pierre Gignac was given his first start of the year while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alou-Diarra-c5259 was going
to play for the first time against his sibling Zanke Diarra.
Ahead of the game, stats showed a big gulf between the two sides. The third-tier club’s annual budget is of 1.7 million euros – a figure that is dwarfed by 4.3 million Euros that Lucho Gonzalez used to earn at the Velodrome.
The financial disparity however, was not going to be the deciding factor of the game. Just six minutes into the game, Julien Valero gave the semi-pro side a surprise lead.
However, the goal was enough for Les Phoceens to wake up as they dominated possession and took the game to the minnows. Deschamps’ side should have levelled proceedings just before half-time. A http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alexandre-c4885

failed to impress.
After some good work from substitute Andre Ayew, Loic Remy grabbed an equaliser for the Rhone side in the 85th minute.
That goal turned out to be enough to take the game to extra-time. However, victory was just waiting for Quevilly who stunned everyone at the Stade Michel d’Ornano in the 111th minute thanks to Johan Christophe Ayina.
However, Loic Remy once again levelled the game 60 seconds later. The game looked to be destined for penalties but Ayina scored another goal after a grave error from Bracigliano.
Quevilly and its faithful would now be desperately waiting for the semi-final of the Coupe de France
