I have a daughter aged 14 and 2 boys aged 5 and 7. They want to help me 'cook' something for tea. My daughter is a good cook but I want something for the boys to do. All suggestions gratefully received. Many thanks and best wishes to you x

  1. My kids started about the age of your boys doing the fruits and veggies platters. Yes, they may cut themselves with the paring knife, but they can't learn any other way.

They can also do the toast and spread sandwich fillings.

Have them prepare the veggies and fruits that don't need cooking. You can core the tomatoes, but they can cut them into wedges. etc.

  2. they could make some fruie slad with apples grapes bannanas make sure you got fruite jocies for it. and add all fruite you have i love it.

  3. mash, you boil the potatoes they'll love mushing it up!!

again fruit is a good one,

try angel delight they can use to fruit to make patterns or faces on the pudding.

  4. Spag bol - never fails and can look like a "real meal" Seve with crusty bread.

Or a Mexican Chilli - same deal as above.

  5. how about you buy a cake (with no frosting, maybe a chocolate cake) and let them decorate it, buy frosting, icing, chocolate chips, and any other stuff you can think of.

  6. Have the children make small sandwiches; get cookie cutters and have the kids cut shapes in the bread. You can fill them with tuna salad, egg salad, or another great spread is mix cream cheese with a little honey and lemon or orange zest spread on bread and add strawberry or banana slice to it.

The boys can help you fix the tuna salad or egg salad also.

You can also make an easy quiche and have them help make it.

You can put in your search bar easy recipes for kids and a lot will come up.

  7. I like this website. It's got many cute and creative recipes you can make together.

  9. Really easy...

    Start with a tortilla,

    add cheese,

    add ham and turckey,

    add a little lettuce,

add some mayo or Mustard (if you like them),

    Roll it up,

Put tooth picks in every 1/2 inch,

    slice evenly between each toothpickset

Put it on a plate and you have a nice little dish to go with tea.

It looks like you went to alot of trouble when it takes about 5 minutes, it is simple and good. Also you can add as much of each ingredient as you like to make it what ever width you prefer...

With kids I always find taking something they are familiar with and changing the wrapper to be a great idea. Little ones can be picky. I make these for my niece when she wants to have me over for a "teaparty". I'm 19 and in my second year of college and she is 6. Attention spans of little ones can be short. I like this becaue it is quick easy... she can help I put on the mayo and she adds everything else while I supervise. then we roll it up and I'll cut it :).
