what do u do when you see this (x+3)^1/2

how u solve that?

Unless that term is equal to something, I don't see how you can solve for x.

If you mean how do you expand it, I don't think you can expand (x+a) to a fractional power.  You can get an infinite series to approximate the value of it, but that's about it.
