Question:

Quick need of advice... There's a drama workshop today and I don't know whether to go?

The workshop runs from 11-5 so it's a good whole day's worth and costs £35, and it in a studio room of a theatre. The lady doing it is supposed to be an actress and casting director, I think. She asked me to bring a photo of myself and my National Insurance Number... do you think it's worth going? Or is it a rip off?

  1. Hmn. What are you supossed to learn? What programs are they going to have? Who is running it?

Bottom line: If in doubt, don't. If you really don't have the money to spare, I wouldn't. But if  ÃƒÂ‚£35 isn't that much to you, I'd go for it.

  2. OK, the workshop sounds good. First I would consider where you found out about it. If it was just word of mouth, check your local newspapers to find out more and possibly perform a number of Internet searches to find out more about the qualifications of the people running the day.

The theatre itself should be able to provide you with some of these answers as either it will be organised by themselves or it will be an outside booking for which they should have some sort of contact details.

I wouldn't give any details before they had either confirmed or showed you their privacy policy and how they would treat your personal information.

Once you have found out about all this and checked it over then I would certainly go for it as you should have nothing to lose.

However also remember that there are plenty of other opportunities so if you do not feel that the time is right or confident enough this time, there will always be another opportunity for you.

    Good luck!

  3. If you go do not give out your NIN. Put the name of the workshop and 'actress' on here for comment maybe. Is it a regular thing or a fly by night. Need to be careful.
