  3. I'm thinking that you are shaving the top of the tail area for a good reason. The tail hair is important part of the protective sytem for your horse, namely fly control.If you have a need to trim the tail it will grow back, however like the other responces state, it does take a long time. And to shave it would take longer,

    If you are thinking about doing it for a fun thing to do and no real reason I hope you shave your head too so you can share the experience with your horse.  Of course you would have to move to the barn to get the total experence..

    Why would you be shaving your horse's tail? That's just cruel, especially in the summertime.
