So my high school is having tryouts this Saturday for field hockey and I plan on going. But!! I have no idea what to expect. My neighbor was on the team last year but I don't talk to her during the summer/wouldn't before saturday anyway. So could anyone give the general idea of tryouts? It would help tons if you could give me your own personal experience.

  1. I played modified, 8th grade, field hockey last year;

    For me; we don't have tryouts. but we are expected to be able to dribble the ball: its when you push the ball back and forth while running.

    We also had to do some drives; wacking the ball hard. you also have to run; quite a bit. Like I said; this is only 8th grade; so i don't know how tough its going to be.

  2. At my field hockey tryouts you do A LOT of running. Timing on the mile timing on the two mile timing on sprints. So show alot of heart and keep going your hardest even when you feel like your going to pass out. There will probably be a lot of drill that coaches will be watching and assesing your skills. Also scrimmages to show how well  you play in game situation. Stay calm, keep good controll, and play smart. Show the coaches you want it. Good luck! =)

  3. hmm well im guessing its some what like lacrosse..but i think lacrosse is a little harder..i play lax and in tryouts we just had drills everyday like catching, throwing, defense skills, try to shoot in the goal while goalie defends it. then they set aside one day for the mile, and the last day we just did some sprints and suicides, and then had a little scrimmage. wasnt anything big.
