  1. Not with hostile a/c no... but for training purposes sure,  that is an important part of your training in the "B" course once you have learned the basics of flying the fighter you have been assigned. Then once you complete the "B" course you move on to your unit and continue training there. For the F-16 Luke AFB was the only place for that 2nd level of training until recently I understand that Lackland AFB is now a B course training base as well. Viper is the only one I am familiar with.  I also had the chance go around with a friend of mine in the CAF when we were still down in Harlingen Texas.. back in the early 80's. I was part owner of a P-51D and knew the guy that owned the P-47 that was based down there, and we both were going to reposition to San Benito because the AIRSHO was coming up that weekend... so we took off together and went up to 14,000 and played grab *** with each other... and I was very surprised that the P-47 was as nimble as it was... it would out turn the P-51, though I could out run him level flight.. he had the edge in the dive.

You can go to one of the aircombat commerical rental courses and fly against your friend (with an instructor in each plane) for around $500-$1000 depending on the package. They will let you pull some G's... but they have had some problems with SIM pilots overstressing the airplanes. They don't respect that when that aluminum is creaking, its real.. and for a reason. I know that one of those guys pulled the wings off a trainer a few years ago... so it can be done... but something you could go see for yourself.
