Ok, a couple of questions - do newspaper journalists get to specialise, in science or travel for example?Also, do they get to travel often if they work with a larger newspaper, and finally is there ever much creativity involved in their work?

    Yes. They get to specialize, but they usually have to start out writing general news and work their way up the ladder.

    Yes. Reporters for larger papers generally get to travel more because bigger papers have bigger budgets to pay for that sort of thing.

    Finally, yes. Ther is a LOT of creativity involved in a journalist's work. Even on boring stories, like covering the city council, the reporter has to use every bit of his or her creativity to make the audience interested in actually reading the story.
