ok been running cross country and my shins been hurting and i wasnt sure if you're supposed to ice it before or after you run????? hurry need anwsers quickly!

  1. Before running, always get a good non impact warm up.  15 minutes on a bike, stationary bike or ellipsoidal machine will do.  You can have a trainer tape you during running.  After running use a contrast bath, soak in ice water up to your knees for 1 minute then ion warm water for 1 minute repeat 5-10 times.


  2. You can ice before and after running, be sure you ice after running, do not use heat.

    Massage and stretching may also help.  

  3. Sounds like shin splints to me.  I used to get them when I did track, I iced afterwards.  You can try taping your shins before your run.  Also, you need to do really good stretching in that area before you run.
